Era il 4 novembre 1918, giorno in cui entrava in vigore l’Armistizio di Villa Giusti. La prima guerra mondiale si era conclusa. L’Italia aveva vinto.

Le celebrazioni della Giornata dell’Unità Nazionale e delle Forze Armate si terranno domenica 6 novembre al complesso monumentale di San Martino della Battaglia.

La commemorazione, organizzata dal Comune di Desenzano del Garda in collaborazione con la Società Solferino e San Martino  prevede alle 9.50 il ritrovo presso la Chiesa Ossario.

Alle 10 verrà celebrata la Santa Messa in memoria dei Caduti della Grande Guerra e di quelli di tutte le guerre.

Alle 10.45, dal pennone della Torre ci sarà l’Alzabandiera ed alle 11.00 davanti al Museo della battaglia, i discorsi ufficiali.

Parteciperanno alla giornata, aperta a tutti, anche le Associazioni combattentistiche e d’Arma che renderanno onore ai Caduti anche venerdì 4 novembre con la posa di corone ai monumenti di Desenzano, Rivoltella, San Martino e Vaccarolo.

Domenica 6 novembre mattina al complesso monumentale di San Martino della Battaglia è previsto anche l’intrattenimento musicale della Banda cittadina e del Coro degli alunni delle scuole primarie.

Al termine della manifestazione ci sarà un rinfresco, a cura del Gruppo sportivo San Martino della Battaglia.

Una curiosità: la villa di Padova dove quel 4 novembre 1918 si firmò l’Armistizio apparteneva al V Presidente della Società Solferino e San Martino, il conte Vettor Giusti del Giardino.

Sempre nel corso della Prima Guerra Mondiale la Società Solferino e San Martino meritò la Medaglia d’Oro al merito della Sanità pubblica per la mappatura dei Cimiteri di guerra.

The anniversary of the victory

It was November 4th 1918, when the Armistice of Villa Giusti came into force. World War I was over. Italy won.

The National Unity and Armed Forces Day celebrations will take place on Sunday, November 6th at the San Martino della Battaglia Memorial.

The commemoration, organized by the Municipality of Desenzano del Garda in collaboration with Società Solferino e San Martino, will include a gathering at 9:50 a.m. in the church of the Ossuary.

At 10 am, Holy Mass will be celebrated in memory of the Fallen of the First World War and all wars.

At 10:45 am, a Flag-raising ceremony will be held at the tower, and at 11 am, the official speeches will take place in front of the Battle Museum.

This day, open to all, will also be attended by the Armed Forces Associations, which will also pay tribute to the fallen soldiers on Friday, November 4, with the wreath-laying ceremonies at the monuments in Desenzano, Rivoltella, San Martino, and Vaccarolo.

On Sunday morning, November 6th, at the monument of San Martino della Battaglia, there will also be a musical performance by the town band and the elementary school student choir.

The event will be followed by refreshments, organized by the San Martino della Battaglia Sports Group.

A curiosity: the villa in Padua, where the Armistice was signed on November 4th 1918, belonged to the fifth President of the Società Solferino e San Martino, Count Vettor Giusti del Giardino.

Moreover, Solferino e San Martino Society received the Gold Medal of Merit for Public Health for mapping the War Cemeteries during the First World War.
